Y12 Hairsalon

Y12 Salon challenged XO Atelier to step beyond its established minimal aesthetic and create an environment unlike any other salon in Dubai. Inspired by the owner’s vision of a vibrant, immersive experience, the project draws influence from digital culture, video game environments, and the surreal visual effects of oil on water, translating them into a physical space that feels both futuristic and highly tactile.

A striking iridescent feature wall marks the entrance, setting the tone for a salon defined by bold colour accents, dramatic lighting, and strong geometric forms. An eight-metre-high product display wall, custom tiled counters, and dynamic linear LED installations create a theatrical backdrop that transforms the traditional salon experience into an engaging social destination.

The spatial planning is organised through a clear geometric language, with styling stations framed by oversized illuminated mirrors and sculptural lighting elements. Private treatment rooms, clad entirely in deep blue and emerald marble-effect ceramics, offer a cocooned retreat where circular backlit mirrors create an infinite visual effect. Every detail was carefully considered and largely custom designed, resulting in a distinctive interior where craftsmanship, innovation, and atmosphere come together to redefine the contemporary salon experience.
